Hey all,
I'm looking to get some advice from everyone.
I'm in the market to pick up a new rifle and I'm interested in the Sako TRG series of rifles.
I currently have a Remington 700 XCR TLR in .308win. I have had a considerable amount of work done on this gun ( only think left to do is a VBULL bottom metal system).
That being said I don't know if I want another .308 in the safe or not at this moment.
I was looking at the TRG-22 in .308, the TRG-42 in .300win or .338 LM.
The first thing I want to know is what should I expect as fas as barrel life is concerned with the 300 and 338. I have heard that a common lifespan for a .338 LM is around 2000 rounds. Considering that I LOVE to shoot and I put around 1000-1500 rounds through all my guns in a year this is a little concerning as I'm sure a replacement barrel for a TRG would not be cheap to buy and have installed. I have not heard a lot of people talk about lifespan of the 300win mag tho. Should I expect similar lifespan from this combination?
What kind of cost am I looking at for each cartridge? I do my own loading but I would most likely brake in the gun with some factory loads.
I would love to hear from some TRG owners on here about there experiences with these rifles as well.
Thanks for the help.
Regards,
Tim
