Hi all. I'm just getting started in shooting. I'm looking for a good quality AR .223 and was at SFRC yesterday. They have an Anderson Manufacturing AR for $700 and I can buy a .22LR upper for about $400 as well, which is what I want to have in the end as it's cheaper to shoot.

What's the word on Anderson Manufacturing products? It seemed like a decent rifle when I held it.

Any help would be great.

I don't have any first hand experience with them, but I can't seem to recall ever hearing anything bad about them.
We're in an interesting time with AR's. When I got into it the cheapest you could buy was a norinco for 800-900 dollars and a colt USA was 2500. Now there are tons of sub 1000 dollar AR's from decent to good American manufacturers.
Just based on a lack of negative chatter about them, I'd say they're good to go.

All I will say is that you get what you pay for. My colt Canada SA15.7 was not cheap but it was flawless out of the box and I haven't had a single stoppage. Just remember that quality firearms hold their value if you take care of them.

Thanks MikeD81, that's what I was thinking. I don't really don't want to get into a gravy train of purchases. I'm a pretty simple guy and in the military, just want something similar to what I'm used to shooting, make it as similar to what I have to qualify on, and keep it that simple. I'm not looking for the ferrari, when the chevy suits me well, I like it and produces the effect that I want.

Thanks for your input.
