Today I went through a few of my fathers old firearms and wondering if some of you guys could shed some light on what they are.

Trying to remember these off the top of my head. They're more sentimental value than anything.

1. J C higgins model 20? pump action 12 gauge, only has a single bar and looks almost identical to my brand new mossberg, just 'old school' Could this be a mossberg?

2 Mossberg 195k A 12 gauge bolt action shot gun

3 No 4 MK 1 in 303 british it seems to have and extremely short length of pull is this normal?

4 Remington semi auto .22 loads from the rear of the stock. wood look but seems almost place with white diamonds sideways on the forestock.

5 All it says is winchester appears to be a mod 70 with a nice monte carlo stock and a shilen barrel?? in 270 win

Another thing both shotguns had that I've never seen before mind you I'm young and new to the sport was ported barrels and weird turn chokes. One went by yards (5 or 10) yards a turn the other turn from I believe cylinder bore to full choke on the exterior of the barrels.

I have one of these as well .. they were the fore runner of the choke tubes you see today..A friend of mine use to have one in 16 gauge and he could shoot ducks and geese with the rest of us.. using 12 gauges. they are not works of art and do not demand top dollar but if your looking for a working gun that will also have a bit of nestalja (spelling)..you have one there and as far as holding there own in the field I believe a guy could be as fast as a pump and perhaps even faster.

The Lee Enfield No4 was made and issued with different lengths of buttstock. Look for a B or an S on the buttstock for "Bantam" or "Small" which would indicate the shorter size butt fitted when issued to a smaller soldier. (The other sizes would be Normal and Long.)

It seems orignal because of the steel/brass butt plate complete with some type of little storage compartment in the center of it, but man its short compared to anything I have.

J. C. Higgins was a Sears brand name. Not a manufacturer. Lots of department stores had firearms made for them with their brand name. Your shotgun is a High Standard Model 200.
5. If the barrel has 'Shilen' stamped on it, the rifle is a custom build. Quite possibly a Win M70.

Yeah my father said his brother in law had it custom built in what he figured was the mid 80's right after my father purchased it, but it never got used much. He took it hunting once got a deer mounted on the wall, but said the gun was just too heavy and hunting with a firearm took the 'sport' out of hunting for him and went back to archery. It's a shilen in what I would call a 'bull barrel' it's much thicker then normal and seems to pack a wack of extra weight because of it.

Nope, High Standard made it, it is essentially a High Standard Model 200.
Made from 1960 to 1966.
Most had a Red ventilated rubber recoil pad with a black spacer.
Some had an adjustable choke.

Yup, this one is complete with redish pink recoil pad and the adjustable choke. First time I'd seen an adjustable choke like that. lol

Yes, the storage compartment is standard, too. It's for a pull-through and an oil bottle.
