I finally got this after waiting about 5 months. Had to go in and get rebarelled to make it restricted as I don’t have a prohib license.
I don’t know much about so looking to find out what year it was made and anything else about it.
It’s in realy nice condition and all # match even one of the mags. The other mag does not.
The holster is realy neat also as it has a compartment for a takedown tool.
Not sure if I will keep it or not so would also like to know a ballpark price on what’s it worth
Thanks for any info
Here are some pics

It's a police luger, you can tell by the added flat spring over the side plate which prevents the pistol from being fired while disassembled. The holster is also police modified so it fits nicely with the pistol. There is/are no date(s) on the receiver but I don't know enough about these to know what that means. I'm far from an expert but I'd say it's worth 3-4k especially since it's a full rig. Shame about the barrel, at least you saved it from the smelter!

3 to 4 thousand for a rebarreled police Luger?? There is a fellow in Montreal that deals in Lugers. Luger dot com. I would contact him or look at his website for more information.

Being re-barreled kills all the collector value. No longer matching. Just a shooter grade now. Good for the non 12.6 crowd that will never have that licence and it allows them to own something they never could.

Exactly like me:d
There are less 12.6 guys every day so it’s only a matter of time before no one can own them.
Still going to eventually sell it but can’t find similar ones to compare to

I would guess in the 1200-1500.00 range. The last collections of luger that where all original did not go for much more than that.
There are fellow that pay silly prices for stuff they can't have sometimes.
But Luger's are not all that up on any more.
The last rebarrel like that, the fellow has to use hot ammo to make it cycle, the standard 9mm off the self don't cut it.

Prohib P-08s are getting to be very difficult to sell. Their owners are all over 60 years old, unless they've got a 12-7 licence and you can't get that without being a "blood" relative of the owner. Apparently, being a stepson/daughter doesn't cut it. The 12-7 only allows the holder to inherit, not purchase more.

I don't have any issues with having those lovely old pistols rebarreled to restricted length, if it keeps them in circulation.

Back when all of the classification BS got out of control and into "insanity" mode, I was in the camp of "original only." I even held onto some prohibs, hoping we could turn this debacle over in the courts. Well, the debacle is going to outlive many here.

IMHO, a reclassified prohib P-08 is worth about 1/3 of what it used to be before it was rebarreled, depending on rarity.

A surplus Finn rework, with a 5 inch bbl and mixed parts, in 9mm sells for around $1300 Can.

IMHO, the OP's P-08 should bring a couple of hundred more, because of the matching numbers and another $200 for the holster.

I get folks coming into gun shows with these and other desirable prohibs. They still have values in their minds from before the reclassification days and are often offended by my offer. Many don't even realize their pistols are prohibs and never bothered to reaffirm their registrations back in the day or just weren't concerned.

I wouldn't give more than $700 for a prohib P-08. To move it, I have to either buy a new barrel and fit it or turn down and profile a barrel blank and fit it. No money in the transaction for me, if I can't get it at a reasonable price.

I believe they can be shipped to the US or some other country that still allows them to be traded among owners or sold to new enthusiasts.

I would like to see as many as possible stay in Canada. If reclassification is the only available option, so be it.
