looking for sr9, who's got the best price?

...The build quality, fit, and finish on the SR9 is pretty much what I expected...

So you expected "...Sharp edges everywhere, cast surfaces not cleaned up everywhere, dinky recoil spring assembly, the nylon trigger guard has grind marks on the front of it, the barrel is full of lines and chatter marks on the outside from dull tools and no oil, possible crack in the barrel lug...she is a bit of a rattler...gap the entire length of the slide and frame...Captive Recoil spring assembly is the dinkiest I have ever seen...literally strips q-tips on every ####ing part...so many sharp edges everywhere on this pistol its retarded...The frame houses several tiny little springs and parts...they will probably break and fly out of the gun at some point....mag disconnect safety....retarded :) Racking the slide, its gritty and squeaky. I'm actually pretty certain its gonna blow up the first round I put through it...I've handled more solid airsoft guns....."? if that is what you expected, why on earth did you buy it?

And btw, the SR9 is not a "new to market" gun. They've been out for almost 6 years!

Way off topic but every time I read the word
(first time I've ever actually typed it out) I can't help but imagine a lazy, spoiled teenager with pants hanging down and the bottom of the pants are all shredded an dirty from walking on them with sneakers laced up nice and loose so they can be slipped on and off without having to bend over and tie a lace.
:)

Meh.....coined by Bart Simpson....sometimes it describes the situation perfectly!
For new to market, its a new design to me....my other newest pistol is a SIG 220. The newer 1911's I have are still a 100 year old design. I rarely buy a new design pistol....

I gave the SR a chance because the bugs seem to have been worked out, and most reviews seemed favorable. I have owned other Rugers and while they consistantly left a lot to be desired, I had my fingers crossed this would be the one that finally impressed me. Their P series of pistols are pretty much a joke, but they were always overbuilt and durable....which they kind of have a reputation for: big heavy clunky guns that don't fall apart. The SR is a new direction for them, and like I said despite its short commings if its accurate, I can live with it. I just see decades of poor qc at Ruger seems to be continuing with this series. If they did clean it up properly, it may drive retail up into M&P or Glock pricing....which I would guess is not a good thing if they plan on selling a lot of these.
The level of what people expect out of products like guns has dropped considerably over the last 20 years. Not just at Ruger, most big gun companies have started turning out low budget crap that would make my grandpappy puke!

You bought one of the least expensive North American made 9mm handguns on the market and expected what exactly? Nighthawk Custom finish? Like many other SR9 owners I got more gun per dollar than just about any other firearm I own - for the price, the SR9 is an extremely reliable, durable, and enjoyable gun to shoot! It may get a B in cosmetics but it is an A+ shooter.

Hear, hear, the Honourable member from SW Ontario .... !

"I think it's hard to improve on what's already out there."? That would explain all the re-inventions of the wheel to mark the centennial of the 1911, marketing guns with the bells, gongs & whistles that used to be done as SOP on the basic design in order to improve it both functionally and cosmetically. Not to forget all the other innovative gun designs and calibres that keep popping up. The good ones last, the others fade from the market PDQ.

I've never been a fan of Glocks, finding them butt ugly, but not having any experience of them, I'm sure not going to knock them. One of the more interesting videos on the net was a head-to-head comparison of the SR9 to the Glock. Ruger is definitely riding on the cape of the Glock and aiming for that market share.

I forgot about that the safety levers could be improved or deleted.... :)

Agreed...

I had to work mine up and down quite a bit. But after 'working' them while watching a movie for about an hour, they now easily flip up or down with a light sweep of my thumb's knuckle. It's smooth like butter now.;)

It seems like they just didn't spend much time finishing / smoothing certain parts on this gun, because it appears that the best solution for all problems I have read about, is to just use it.

BTW, just for you :p
