Any idea where a guy could find very thin cannon fuse? I believe what I need is about 2mm. I bought some of the Hodgdon fuse carried by most vendors but it is much too big for my little desktop cannon...
If it is available Rusty Woods should have it. He sells an assortment of different fuses. I used to have some thinner fuse than regular cannon fuse but it was really fast (12 in. per second I think it was) so 20ft didn't last long.
That's where I got mine from, much too big unfortunately. The stuff I need is about half as thick as what I purchased. Jetex seems to be a dead end but Rustywood has stock. I hate their online shopping setup but since the stuff is so hard to find I'll deal with it. Thanks for all the help everyone!
I remember as a kid pulling apart .303 ammo that was loaded with what I believe was cordite powder. There were 15 or 20 strands of it about the length of a .303 case inside. Apparently the cordite was put in the case before finale forming was done so it took a bit of digging with a set of tweezers to get them started to come out. They as I remember were about one mm in dia. I remember burning them and as I remember it was not to fast. I believe this ammo was WWII or possibly earlier. If you could source 5 or 6 they would probably last you until you get tired of cleaning your cannon.
I had the same problem with my mini-cannon. The smallest fuse I could buy was still a smidgen too big, so I drilled the touchhole a smidgen bigger. Problem solved
