When I joined the forum there were a bunch of active 'which .22' threads. I've been searching for them for a friend looking to get started and can't find them. Any help would be appreciated. I tried multiple searches without finding what I'm looking for. Thanks.

Pistol or rifle?

Next question is...for what?

My first pistol was a Ruger MKII. It's a great gun; all it's ever needed was some LockTite 242 on the front sight screw. It is a solid choice for learning to shoot, durable, reliable, warrantied, accurate enough that the variable will always be you, and with lots of aftermarket options too. If bullseye, plinking, or small game hunting is your interest, a MKII is recommended. It was the right choice at the time.

But, if I was doing it today, it would be a .22LR IDENTICAL-FUNCTIONING, IDENTICAL CONTROLS version of the centrefire duty pistol that I intended to graduate to, whether the Sig P226/P229, a CZ75, the 1911A1, or the Glock, "practical" training and introductions being my primary area of interest. (A G17 and a .22LR conversion kit is what I'd be inclined toward. Availability/unavailability of a conversion kit would figure highly in my decision of this pistol vs. that pistol.)

But those would be of little use to you if your interest was in going to the Canada Games or in whacking little steel animals at 100 yards. Them's a whole other game.

It all comes down to what you want to do.

The most highly repected is the Ruger Mark III pistol, there are also a new kid in town is the GSG 1911, many people love it and it does look cool and perform really well. take a look at rimfirecentral to find out more.

Try changing "At most" _ replies to "At least" _ replies. That's the issue I had.

The "0" in that filter is a placeholder for anything more than one. So the first part doesn't change anything actually.

The culprit is and continues to be the "Find Posts From" filter which is set to "A Week Ago" for the first part and "And Newer" for the second part. It's the 'And Newer" that gets everyone since it'll only pull up the last week's worth of threads or posts.

Just switch the first part to "36 months ago" and leave the "and Newer" alone and you'll get the last three years worth.

From there you need to select the right keywords as well. But at least you'll be getting results. I'd suggest that you don't use that whole phrase or you'll limit the returns. Instead go for "best .22 rifle", "best .22 pistol", "what .22", "which .22" or other combos that are equally basic.
