Hey, I'm new to the hunting world. Ive been sorta close to it my whole life. But with no one to teach me when I (19) was younger. I'm not new to firearms , or shooting but never took that step I wanted. With times seeming to be getting gloomy, I would to learn a thing or two to learn for the first few deers.

I have a 1961 Marlin 336, 30-30, its was a very well kept rifle before it made it to me. It's buttery smooth and still dime precise. Where I'll be hunting it pine and birch splotched foot hills.

Learn: firearms safety, woods travel/camping, finding game, shooting game, processing game. The important stuff is how to safely use a firearm and how to safely travel and be in the woods. Folks are often most scared about processing game, when in fact that activity is the least dangerous, and- when it comes down to it- is really quite simple. Woods safety and firearms safety are very important.

Lots of folks don't have mentors but you need to be a self starter. Read books, consume articles, watch video but most importantly GET OUT IN THE WOODS and do the thing (leave a trip plan with an adult.) Hunting and woodmsanship is literally in your DNA, literally, but it can take time to unlock it. But it's in you. Check out social media by Steven Rinella aka Meateater, Cameron Hanes, Remi Warren, even Jim Shockey for inspiration (not really hunting lessons, but motivation). Get after it!

Read the regs for your province and keep a copy of the book in your truck to double check if needed.

Have fun, enjoy the outdoors, check for crown land that you can use and give er. Hunting is not about bringing home a big buck every time, its about unwinding and getting back to your very primal nature.

When you were (19) younger? Does that mean last week? I’m guessing by your screen name and info in your profile you can’t really be much older than 19 now. If you are looking for real advice and people to help you out don’t, come off as a douche. My advice is to change your name and profile info so that people aren’t put off by your childish attitude.
