Narrowed the field down to

S&W 1911 E Series, Para P14.45 EK and the LTC... or 6 norincos.

I am leaning more to the single stack, so really it is the Smith and the LTC that are at the top of my list. I have heard so many mixed opinions on Para lately that I don't know what to think, but I can't find jack on the E-Series which looks stunning.

Any input?

You forgot to check out SIG 1911... Mine is a tac driver... As for Para well Norinco had better fit an finish....

I shoot a smith (regular, not E series). The S&W is a wonderful gun, runs everything, and super accurate. I also shoot a Springfield 1911. I am constantly tempted by the Sig though. Just my $0.02.

Para Ordnance is the the worst maker of 1911s on the market; avoid them like the plague!

The E Series S&W looks promising; they may have finally cracked the code for external extractor 1911s.

Norincos are a good value as a project gun.

Thanks for the input.

Just wondering what is wrong with para?

Also does anyone own an e series 1911? From the pics
I have seen it looks stunning

Haha yeah the norc are decent for what they are. I have a norc cqb and I love it, also have tried their cz and sig clones and was impressed.

I don't know why but the e series makes my pants get short. I appreciate all the input and will take a look at the sig to

Mooses do you have any pics or a range report? Also do you own any othe 1911?

I did see the R1 and it is ok, but it's not very "pretty" the e series is a very attractive
1911 and it caught my attention the second I saw it.

When I was shopping for my first 1911, I was really interested in a Para. I didn't get to hear any opinions on them because the looks I got at any gun shop where I asked said enough.

Re: Para. The problems are simple, the finish chips scratches and wears very quickly. There are many reported cases of the slide stop notch on the slide peening (rounding off) and rails, if the pistol has one have been out of spec. Try searching Para Sucks. Oh yes and the warranty service is not world beating, it's almost as if the factory doesn't give a f___.

I have 2, the
SW1911SC
E-Series™ - Round Butt, Scandium Frame Black Melonite

Which I’ve had for about a month after waiting for a bit more than a year, I also have the
SW 1911 5” Stainless with the Olive Drab Crimson Trace Lasergrip
The E Series for the price has features that you would expect to see in a custom Nighthawk or the Les Baer at double the price. I think it’s the only round butt that you’ll find in its price range which was one of the reasons why I ordered it through Wanstalls a little more than a year ago. The fit is tight and the finish is flawless. I’ve had it to the range a couple of times and have probably put a couple of hundred rounds through it and it has functioned without issue. It’s considerably lighter than my other 1911 which I like for different reasons. The pictures shown on the S&W website don’t do it justice. I’ll try and put some pictures up for you.

Thanks a lot Mooses, I don't know why but the E-series caught my attention right off!

Thanks for the information on Para, I was really considering it after one of my buddies recommended it to me, but after googling "para sucks" I am willing to investigate other alternatives haha

I think I might pick up the S&W, I loved it the second I saw it.

Cheers

Have you guys checked out the Remington R1? I'm leaning towards one as a everyday shooter. Just wondering.

Just took mine out to the range for the first time and I loved it. Very accurate and the finish is excellent. The fit is really tight and nice too. The back of the slide/frame at the hammer is not quite flush but not very noticeable and doesn't effect the function. Put 100 rds through it and had no fails at all. For $699 its a great deal!

After ~ 30 years of collecting/owning/shooting various 1911's, here's my 02.....

Of the choices....

S&W, yes.

Norinco 1911's, yes.

Para, nope - wouldn't own one.
