Well, not me, but a friend of mine is looking for a new 22-250. Where we live, we're limited to range (Southern Ontario) but he still wants one, and he generally doesn't like to pay a lot, although if it's worth it, I think he'd pay an extra 150$ or so for a better trigger ect. I believe he's looking to spend around 500-600, and I'm wondering if something is much more worth it for say 800$.
What's your opinions on a 22-250 rifle and what some good options are, the best value, ect. He may use it for yotes if he gets the opportunity, but mostly messing around...still, he obviously wants it to be very accurate and reliable (I know he also needs a pretty decent scope to go with it).

Thank you.

Cheap and accurate .22-250 for mostly range play points towards a Ruger american predator in my opinion. It has one of the best twist rates for a factory .22-250 if you would be interested in launching heavier high BC bullets for long range shooting.

Based on the expected use for this rifle, a 223 would be a better choice as ammo would be a lot less expensive and there would be more rifles to choose from.

I'd also have to recommend the weatherby vanguard s2. I had one for a few years that I regretfully sold, but it shot everything sub moa that I fed through it. For the price I don't think you can go wrong.

223 makes a lot more sense in this application than the 22-250. But if he's set on that one, there's plenty of used ones out there in the $500-800 range and some decent new ones too.

Marlin XS7VH. Not any good for hunting due to the weight but damn.....bloody accurate! The only place I've ever seen them is Coastal Outdoors. That's also where I got mine. Won't break the bank and shot a 2" group out of the box with a cheap Bushnell 3-9 at 100m after bore sighting.

A 2 moa varmint rifle is as useful as mammary glands on a fish.
If it doesn't shoot sub-moa, it gets a "reject" rating by me. D.
