Looking into AR-15s

Hello,

I'm looking into getting an AR-15. I have my choices locally and online, and I have been looking at reviews online and asking for recommendations from local shops.

Currently looking at these based on what I have been told:

1) S&W M&P15 Sport (by far the most preferred starting AR-15 in the reviews online)
2) DPMS Oracle A3
3) High Standard HSA-15 (local stores seem to love this guy)

They are all in my price range between $800-$1000, these are the recommended AR-15 in the price range. Any information anyone has on these or knows of any other AR in the price range would be helpful in making my choice.

I may even just get a lower if anyone knows of a good manufacturer of a lower and build it myself on my spare time. Any guides on this would be helpful as well.

Contact Dean at Select Shooting Supplies in Cambridge. He has some really nice AR15s in on consignment that might be in, or really close to your price point.

Unfortunately, he doesn't show his consignment merchandise on his website, so you have to get in touch with him.
 
How many rounds are you planning on shoothing through this thing, and what kind of shooting are you going to do?
 
When I bought my ar15 recently I had the same budget. I was pretty set on the S&W sport, the dpms or a Wyndham weapon army model. I was all about to purchase the Wyndham until I decided to check the EE at which time I got a sig sauer m400 enhanced with only 60 rounds down the pipe for 900$ to my door. Needless to say I am now the proud owner of said sig sauer.

I know the EE and buying used isn't for everyone but yourself u can get some pretty smokin deals if you look around for used. I haven't bought a new gun in at least 2 years and don't regret it at all.

If you're moving to the States make sure it's 16 inch or longer as shorter requires a NFA stamp, and can be complicated or impossible. I know Chinese are not allowed for import, but I'm not sure if there are restrictions on other countries of origin. Be aware that just because you can buy a specific make there does not necessarily mean you can take it in yourself!

You won't be able to bring it. It would be far easier and cheaper to get one once you are here. You could build a way better rifle than the ones you listed for under $600 once you are here.
 
I guess I shouldn't say you won't be able to bring it but it will easily cost you more time and money than it is worth.
