Picking up a new sks and I'm thinking about ditching the front sight. I'm hoping someone in this great community might have the tool to make it easier. I would gladly cover shipping and a rental fee if wanted. Thanks all for taking the time to read.

Happy shooting

Go to Princess auto and get a tapered point air hammer bit.
After driving out the pins, stuff it in the back of the cleaning rod hole and hammer the sight right off the barrel.
Too easy.
(I'm assuming you have access to a compressor and air hammer BTW)

Not a bad idea at all! Did you use this method yourself?

For those of us without access to a compressor and an air hammer, what's the best way to go about this?

Lots of heat and sweat.
If it is a BBQ painted refurb, make sure you meticulously clean all the finish off the barrel forward of the sight assembly.
Any of that crap getting underneath as you're trying to beat the sight off will easily triple the energy required to move it.
Torch the sight, then beat the living daylight out of it to get it off.
Honestly, find someone with air tools.

Lol. It can be done easily with a puller and a pipe flaring kit and a deep hole socket of the proper diameter. There will be cussing and frustration, but once it is off you will say "that was not that hard".
You see the guys on the net use the fancy tool, that's fake news at its finest.
Good luck
