Lookingh for recos: Best first shotgun?

Hey everyone

I just got my RPAL and am looking to get my first rifles. I am thinking a Ruger 10/22 simply to get a lot of ammo downrange at an affordbal eprice but I also know I will get bored fast so am considering a Mossberg 88 or 590. Would love any thoughts or reco's on a good first shotgun as my knowledge right now is slim at best buyt expanding rapidly.

Cheers
Dan
Hey Dan,

Consider asking yourself what you are using the rifle for. Is it for plinking, hunting, competition shooting? etc. Also consider the availability of ammunition, .22 calibre is very common and easy to get ahold of, also very affordable as you already know. And consider the availability of parts. Don't buy a used rifle for your first one, because you don't know what problems will come with it. I would suggest going over to a big store like Bass Pro Shop to physically hold and look at the rifles or shotguns that you are interested in.

The Ruger 10/22 is a popular rifle. It's known to be reliable, affordable, and there are lots of aftermarket parts available.

I hope this helps in helping your decision making!

start with a Mossberg. Then, get a Beretta or Benelli. Better quality, fit and finish. Cant gowrong with a Benelli SuperNova. Around the same as a 500, with some cool added features, like a shell release, that allows you to cycle out a round, with out loading another, for swapping round, like buck to a slug or bird shot.
