What issues does a loose eye piece cause?

Recently sent a scope in for warranty as I was having issues zeroing it. Tried mounting it on multiple rifles... The warranty report stated that the eye piece was loose so it was replaced but also stated:

After thorough testing we believe the issue to be inherent to the rifle, mounting solution, or ammunition.
-replaced eyepiece
-verified all functions, optics
-Impact testing showed no shift
-zeroed turrets
-argon purged
 
Upon further research, looks like I may have been having a POA vs POI issue due to the loose eye piece and not necessarily an issue holding zero.

You might not believe this, but a loose eye-piece doesn’t change POI. Think of the eye-piece as a little viewer for looking into your scope at your reticle.

That doesn’t mean that they weren’t right to fix it; because it is a defect; but they are also right that it isn’t your problem.
