Here I am again... looking for answers. I completely disassembled my Norinco 1911A1 and cleaned all the packing grease off with CLP. When I put it back together... the grip safety was really loose. Everything still works fine... but it shakes like a SOB. Any ideas on how to tighten it or anything?

Norinco... function test goes well. No parts left over... just the grip safety wiggles a bit and makes a bit of noise.

I've had 3 Norinco 1911 pistols, and all of them had a lot of play in the Grip Safety. This can be adjusted out by bending the appropriate spring "tab" on the sear spring. Better still, swap it out for an American-made aftermarket sear spring. Be especially careful when assembling the Main Spring Housing and Grip Safety...the sear spring can get a little twisted sideways and the little tab at the bottom won't seat properly.

Finally! Ok which spring do I adjust and how do I assemble the main spring housing and grip safety without twisting the sear spring?

I've been having constant problems with the sear spring not sitting properly. I wasn't sure if it was supposed to do that. And where can I get a sear spring in the Lower Mainland? Will Hunters Sporting Goods have one?

WHOO! I think I fixed it. I bent the prong on the far right back a bit... well a lot... and put the mainspring housing in halfway to keep the sear spring down. Well function test is all good, and the grip safety barely rattles. It still wiggles a bit from side to side... but it did that when I first got it. Thanks guys :)

It's just a matter of trial and error. If the middle leaf is properly sitting in the notch at the bottom of the grip safety, and sits in the mainspring cap as you slide the housing in. it should be good.
Sometimes you have to point the barrel upward and jiggle it to line them up.
www.armco-guns.com has lots of 1911 parts.
