How much wiggle is exceptable from a revolvers clyinder? I'm pretty sure there should be no fore/aft movement, but how much side to side? If a gun is shooting loose, how would a smith' tighten it up?

Some looseness is acceptable, that is why the rear of the barrel where the bullet first enters is tapered or coned.

Tolerances on some revolvers actually gets tighter when the trigger is held to the rear in the fired position.

Test firing is the best way to see if a revolver is too far worn and "shaves a lot of lead"...

Replacing the excessively worn parts and fitting them correctly is how it should be rebuilt.

The cylinder does tighten up with the hammer cocked and seems to tighten up a faction more with the trigger pulled. The gun looks in great shape, the crane is good, the cylinder has the expected rotation ring around it, the cylinder chambers also have rings.....likely from shooting .44special? I'm sure its fine. Prolly' me just being paranoid cause its my first BIG magnum (Colt Anaconda), and I don't want it blowing up in my hands - or more importanly the hands of a guest shooter  .
