I just came back from the range. I was getting a lot of duds. 22 ammo that was not firing. My question is "If a bullet doesn't fire but shows no contact point a dud or is there some adjustment needed to my rifle?" I have a CZ 453 22. I shot 40 rounds today and had 12 duds all with no contact marks on the bullet.

Thanks for your input.

Try soaking the bolt in a can of solvent for a bit to clean out any grease and crud that may be impeding the firing pin or hammer.

Thanks I'll have a gunsmith check it out.

Take the bolt apart and give it a clean. Takes literally 10 seconds with no tools needed on cz rifles. YouTube has videos showing how.

No need for a gunsmith until you have done this at least. Then test it with a previously fired shell to see if it is stoking correctly.

X2, you can use the corner of a table to depress the firing spring pin, then the only other tool you need is a small flathead to remove the clip that holds in the extractor and case support pins.

Sounds like it just needs a real good cleaning.

It's not so bad just don't lose any parts, lol.

Lots of times the dud's aren't duds, either-

Rechamber the round rotated 90 degrees to last firing and hit it again. High volume manufacturing sometimes leaves unprimed areas in the rim of the case.

some primers are a bit too inert, have seen this happen with Remington ammo especially. Sometimes rifle have weaker hammer spring. But this all doesn't aply to your case, Naes, your rifle just needs cleaning.
