Lots of rain and wind make great duck hunting... No wait--- basement floods

Darn,

Went down to the basement today at 04:35 to grab my decoys to find an inch of water on the floor.

Oh-Oh! Can the duck hunting.

Spent an hour and a half bailing out the jammed and swamped sump and mopping up the floor.

Got the drain guy in and fixed the problem so now fortunately, tomorrow has more wind and rain predicted.

There's always another day.

Had the same sort of thing happen, except it was my roof leaking into the exterior walls. Thank god i rent...Hope your not in ontario like I am cuz we won't be getting another chance for ducks until next September....

Rain and wind did not bother me. Sleep in this morning and waiting for big Game. Yes the Seahawk won!!!!!!!!!!

My sump pumps run for 3 months straight in the spring and at other times during the year as needed. They are a constant source of worry. You have my sympathies. Next house will be on stilts LOL.

Got 8 widgeon. Slow to start but as the wind picked up the birds started to decoy like crazy.

Was at a place this weekend near Kingston. The duck hunting was outstanding, but the basement of the house also had water coming in from the melt....

If you're basement is unfinished it's relatively cheap and easy to install a water management system that'll keep the basement bone dry. A backup sump (either 12v or 110v) also gives piece of mind.
