I was recently talking to a new fella at the range the other day,and the shotgun discussion came up. The conversation was about deer hunting with slugs,I had mentioned that I shoot Winchester Fosters outta my 1200 deer barrel with IC choke,he reponded by saying that outta his rifled barrel no deer stands a chance when using using the same slug.
Would you not get alot of lead in the rifling when shooting Fosters in a fully rifled barrel... I say yes,but he seems to think its ok.
What do you think?

i don't think they would lead the barrel....I just think that they may not be accurate as fosters are made for smoothbores. If he likes the idea of a full bore dia. projectile as opposed to sabots he should try diff. makes until he finds the most accurate one. Just as in rifles slug dia. and how it matches the bore/rifling will be the deciding factor for accuracy.

AFAIK, all modern S/G slug ammo has a saboted projectiles, and you need to handload with specialized, i.e. larger diameter, lead projectiles and modified wads if you want the projectile to engage rifling like a bullet.
