I picked this up quite recently from Lever Arms. I found them quite friendly and helpful....even got to poke through the fully stocked glass case for what I was looking for. I finally settled on this refurbed '51 Tula. It's got the gold bayo, #1 front sight, numbers matched nonforced stock, clean chamber and bore and of course, the frankenpinned mag. Couldn't resist the rifle and case of ammo offer, so It was a done deal!

Surprisingly a lot of people on here seem to hate the SKS.
I don't think I'll ever be getting rid of mine. I only have 3 at the moment... more to come in the future.

heh...

From Lever Arms??? No way, Jose!:D:D:D Can't be true because some people say all Lever Arms SKSs are junk..........:dancingbanana:

Not me, though.....I absolutely love my pretty SKSs, which incidentally were purchased from Lever for cheap cheap cheap, just like the OP.
.

I've seen some pretty decent "junk" rifles from Lever. :D great bores-
maybe all the #'s don't match but who cares. my SKS will be for
shootin', not just looking at. :)

The significance of the numbers on the front sight can be found here:
http://www.carbinesforcollectors.com/sks.htm

The tightness of grouping was recorded on the sight, with the #1 being the best, #2 less accurate and so on.

I highly dought that

Only my later SKS45s have this mark and its on the gas block too. I think its a factory parts mark.

I have never seen a "2" or a "3" and why would they waist there time grading a combat rifle????????

i have read that before but couldnt verify that info .

i think the 1 you see is a straight verticle line , not an actual 1 , most of mine are like that but i do have one 2, no 3.
