low/medium rings

Hi everyone! Will be buying a savage mk 2 bv .22 Two questions: 1) Rifle comes equiped with weaver bases, can i use low rings instead of medium for a 40 mm. scope? 2) I was thinking burris zee rings, any experience with these or other high quality rings for this set up. I don't want the garbage .22 rings that are rampant on the market today! Thanx for future responses ahead of time!!!

Burris makes a good ring. Lows are what you want unless the bolt hits for some strange reason.
