I'll try to keep it short here.
I have been back and forth with Black Box customer in Alberta about milling my M&P2 for an optic pocket cut. As I have seen proof of these getting milled state side for Holosun 509T and Aimpoint ACRO direct pocket mill that you can imagine my disappointment when they advised me that they "cannot" do the job. They say that there is not enough material given the position of the striker.
I resolved to it is what it is (Canada) and dialogued with them on my options particularly about options for optic behind iron sights ie: optic, iron, iron, muzzle. The sales rep said that they have only done that with one optic and obviously not one I would even put on to take a piss. He then consulted the shop where they said they could design a RMR cut in that configuration but would have to charge me $120/h draft time. Fawk! I don't think that I should have to pay for their education and let the next customer off the hook so F that.
The M&P is worthy of a larger size optic and I desire one that is enclosed without going to small. Holosun 407k/507k are small and share the same footprint as the soon to be released EDC enclosed micro. Again kinda small and probably best suited for a Glock48.
I could RMR and use an adapter plate but I figure if it can be done direct ACRO or 509 then it would be complete and custom to me the way I want. I also feel like I would be throwing away cowitness with an adapter plate.
By now you can see my dilemma. Any advice would be appreciated. What would you do?
Anyone who says you should have got a Glock loves Trudeau.
