Low or Med rings for a Rem700BDL + 40mm Conquest

Hey all, I've got a Conquest on the way and I need to order a Leupold 1pc STD base and rings. Do I need med rings or can I use low rings? Leopold has a nice little chart that tells you what rings to use on thier own scopes, but not the competition, of course.

get the medium rings. with the 40mm front bell on the scope there won't be any issues in mounting the scope that way. You won't be stretching your neck to shoot either if that is what your concern is.
 
you should be ok with lows

Leupold has a mount selector on their site. just use the 3-9x40mm VXII or 3.5-10x40 VXIII as a substitute for your Zeiss 40mm

Id bet they say lows will work

How do you know what he or she is mounting it on? What if it is a heavy barreled rifle like a savage 110 or 116? I mounted one last week for someone, tried low rings and they wont work with the standard 1 piece base and a 40mm objective. On the regular model 110 or 116 low will work just fine.

I understnd that on most rifles low rings will work, but not on all. Maybe you guys know what rifle it is being mounted on from another post that I didnt read, if so never mind me :)

read the title :D it says REM700BDL

as I own 2 BDL's, a SA & a LA and have used Leupold rings on both, with 40mm objective scopes, I'm very confident low rings will work :D

I guess I should read the title and full post, not the first time and probably not the last :D

And yes low rings will work, I fully agree :eek: :) :D
