Wondering if I can get some ammo advice. Would love to have a box of lower pen ammo for around the homestead (we get the occasional coyote around here, as well as for home defence which I hope would never be an issue). I have heard good things about Hornady Urban TAP. First question....is low pen ammo worth it? Secondly, whats a good brand? Finally, where can one source such ammo? I tried a quick google search of the hornady rounds and couldn't find a canadian supplier.

Thanks!

Low Penetration, pretty much all varmint bullets are designed to expand rapidly and not pass thorough (within reason). There's a few different flavors of pistol ammo too such as federal guard dog. That being said there's no guarantee, if your not absolutely sure of your shooting lane you shouldn't be taking the shot. Tests using this ammo have still had bullets pass through barriers. Im currently testing some 110gr vmax in the 308, hoping to make a decent coyote round. Same projectile as hornady tap, but a lot cheaper.
