Low tech fix for a low Mosin front sight?

Anyone tried this yet?

I'm thinking instead of using a Q tip, one could use plastic wire casing of whatever colours they wanted to use.
And very adjustable/replaceable given different ammo loads.

Could a fix really be this simple?

Someone else can probobly de mystify this, but I've heard that the M44 was sighted in for use with the bayonet. If this is the case of the rifle mentioned, that would explain why he was shooting too high, since most shooters dont (logicaly) fix bayonet.
