I'm looking for a source of low velocity 12 gauge slugs for 3 gun matches. Why use something that will put out 1,700 fps on a paper target when you could use something that only puts out 1,100 fps. Any assistance would be appreciated.

There are reduced recoil/low recoil slugs available from most manufacturers. Many are 2-5/8" instead of 2-3/4" but work just the same. They are usually a couple hundred fps below full power equivalents.
FWIW, factory muzzle velocities often need to be read with a grain of salt. I chronied a bunch of "1600fps" Winchester 1oz slugs and they only produced about 1450fps.

For myself I would use handloaded cast slugs. 7/8oz Lee slugs with moderate charges of medium shotgun powders like Unique or 700x will produce around 1200fps with moderate recoil and still cycle most semi-autos.

I buy S&B 2-5/8" low recoil slugs for paper punching. $20 for 25 box. Can't beat that (probably unless you reload). I haven't try them in semi though, don't have one.

Those aren't conventional slugs, they're round balls/pumpkin balls. They are called slugs by some but everyone I've talked to differentiates round balls from slugs.
They're cheaper/easier to produce but not nearly as accurate. Accuracy really requires matching diameter of the ball to your bore. Mismatched can mean buckshot-like pattern sizes, properly matched can mean almost foster slug accuracy. Lots of guys over on the Cast Boolits forums shoot oversized round balls through rifled barrels.

I noticed that they were round balls before I posted as it says it in the description but if you want something lower velocity that will make a slug sized hole in a target they are about all that is in stock anywhere.

Rem managed recoil are soft shooting, have no daytime muzzle flash, print well in most shotguns and penetrate pretty good. Another soft shooting slug is the Fiocchi 7/8 oz. I think listed MV is around 1300-1350 fps and they are softer shooting than the Remington's. I find them locally for $10-12 for a box of 10. The Rems are usually $5-6 for a 5 rd box.

if I'm not mistaken the slugs from Canadaammo are Dominion brand and are a round ball . the S&B slugs have a Brenneke type slug in them and they shoot really nice. I was shooting some at the range the other day . I can't remember but they are either in the 1200fps or 1450 fps range .

a guy who was at the range that night works at the local gunshop and his exact words were I love those S&B slugs .
