Considering that recoil will not be a big problem I require a scope which is relatively inexpensive for target and hunting under 150 yards. I do have a problem with some scopes being blurry with my old eyes. The ones with the quick adjust on them I can adjust until clear. Variable not needed but slim crosshairs would be an asset. Dave

Right now I have a simmons 22 mag rimfire scope on my hornet (it was the only scope I was willing to un mount) it has worked surprisingly well, but the cross hairs are not fine by any stretch covers the better part of a 1" circl @100. The two scopes I am considering are the Bushnell 4-12 banner and a Barska 3-12 airgun, I already have one of each and each have thier strong points.

The Barska is a little better optically the cross hairs are way finer (possibly too fine for low light and bush) and they are mil-dot, Durability, that's a question only time will tell. The Bushnell is an OK scope and if something goes wrong with it I know where to send it.

I have a Banner 6-18x50AO on my Hornet. Works fine, but it's HUGE. Looks a little silly mounted on top:

not as silly as my tasco 8-? x50 with two sun shades on my SS .222 baikal!

Sun shade ends just shy of the front sight ramp. I'll get a pic up tonight maybe.

Silly yes but I love it.

I've got a Tasco target and varmint 6-24x42 AO on my Savage MKII. It is a great scope for the $89 I paid. It is a little big (around 16") but it does a nice job.

Well, I cheaped out today and bought a Bushnell 3X9 variable .22 scope. Rings and all for $79.00. Clear as a bell even with my old eyes. Just thought I'd put the period on this thread. Thanks to all.....Dave
