I have a high index eyeglass (-7.00) prescription so the best optic for me would be lower magnification (my field of view gets too narrow at high magnification - like tunnel vision), large and bright Objective 42-50mm and a forgiving eyepiece (larger the better). My price range ceiling is at or around $600. Good clear glass of course, side parallax/focus I was told would also be a benefit but I've also read that it doesn't have much benefit at under 10x magnification.

I've been looking at:

Zeiss Terra 3-9x 42mm, $550

Vortex Viper HS 2.5-10x44, $599

Vortex Crossfire II Rifle Scope 4-12x 44mm, $269

Vortex Crossfire II 3.9x50mm, $249

Leopold VX-1 3-9x50mm (don't see this anywhere, but it appears to be in my price range)

Any of these or others you'd recommend?

Another candidate, this is US $ though:

Have you considered a long eye relief / scout scope. This would put the scope out front far enough that you shouldn't be fighting your perscription to focus. Just a thought. Any of the scopes you've listed are good value for the money, and all are, in my opinion, decent scopes

I find Leupolds to be the most comfortable scope to look through for the money... what are you putting it on, and what are you using it for hunting/target?

Just target shooting now, may graduate to hunting in the future. Using iron sights is getting difficult now. I need optics for a little help.

Zeiss eyepiece is superior to Leupold's.

It looks massive, lots of light gathering ability. I may go for the Zeiss Terra. It's hard to tell a real review from a sales pitch, but I think the Terra is the best deal in the ones I have listed.

If I buy it and it's a POS, I'll let you guys know. If I buy the Vortex Viper I'll need new rings, the Zeiss would be plug & play.

But Vortex has such a great warranty . Buy one $400.00 scope and you really bought 3 or 4 $80.00 scopes .

Any models you can help us out with?

I have (3) Monarch 3 models, all 4-16 x 50mm. One on a 7mm MAG that has been treated rather rough, even falling out of the gun boot on my quad and still holding zero even with the trail rash. I also have (1) Prostaff 4-12x42mm on my K31 and it handles the recoil no issues (this rifle killed my Terra in 6 months). All BDC scopes, the Nikon Spot On app is great.
