I am trying to put together my upper and lower (Lower ATR Upper Larue) and it is scary tight, I mean I could barely get the takedown pins in... actually I need to use a small hammer to get them in... as for the rear of the upper it will not slide into the receiver without some serious pressure... Once I got it together it was almost impossible to get them apart. I took it to the range and put about 100 rounds through her.... flawless performance, very accurate.... when I tried to take it apart, well it took me almost a half hour to pry the halves apart.... I have them apart now....any ideas???

The Larue upper has two small tabs on the bottom of the reciever to "Tighten" up the slack as it were. Although you shouldn't need to hammer the pins in, you should have to apple more than "Normal" force to accomplish the assembly.

Some times the pins are very tight...lube them up, and use a light plastic or rubber hammer. Over time, it will get better. To take the pins out, you msy have to tap them out with a brass punch. Although somewhat stressful, it actually is a good thing to be tight. As posted earlier, most people find there is too much play...

My Stag upper fits very tight on my ATR lower as well.

Doesn't affect the function, it works great. Just takes a little more effort to take it apart.
