Lowest 30mm rings and base

Bought a Burris Euro Diamond 3-10X40, 30mm tube. I find this somewhat of an odd combo, it's often a 50 bell on a 30mm tube. So with the 40, the bell is a little over 1/2" over the barrel. The lowest rings I could find were the Burris Zee mediums. However, I found out that the Burris tactical extreme rings come in a low so I ordered those and the XTB base but later found the fine print that states the low XTR rings are the same height as the Zee mediums..crap!

Any suggestions to get this scope lower? The gun is a Browing A-bolt. And no, I don't really want to swap scopes... I think....

Warne bases are low enough to use open sights when the scope is removed. I had them on a Savage 110 with a 3.5-12x52 and I had to shave about .030" off of the scope cover to get it to fit.
