Hello all,
I recently purchased a LPVO to get onto the whole reddot+variable optic train, my scope is a ATACR 1-8 and as a newbie in the LPVO I did notice that there is no parallax adjustment for the scope, so I set my scope diopter according to the manual (looking at the sky and come back to the reticle), while my reticle is very clear when I look at it, I did notice if I look at further distance with my scope, the background is very blurry, very hard to line up the reticle with the target, is this normal for LPVOs? What can I do to have a bit of relief?

I think best technique is to set it while at max zoom, looking at something with visual definition at like 100-200m. The looking at the sky technique only works if you do with your eye focus what they assume a person would do... which can't be guaranteed on an individual basis.

Personally I like to have my diopters set so that when I have two eyes open, focusing on something about 200m, zoom maxed, the scope eye sees a sharp image while my other eye also sees a sharp image. But I think this won't work for everyone because I am a little unusual: I am pretty 50/50 eye dominant so I can see both images at the same time with two eyes open.

The greatest advantage of LPVOs is versatility in a relative condensed package (and usually reasonable weight). However, it is ultimately a compromise of features. Much like many traditional old-school hunting scopes, LPVOs also tend not to have parallax adjustment and are fixed at ~100m or so (I believe the ATACR 1-8x 24mm is actually fixed at 125 or 150m).

The key is getting a clear picture and setting up your eye relief at known shorter distances, but you'll never get crisp sight picture at extended ranges like with a highly adjustable, high mag scope with adjustable parallax.
