I'm looking for an LRA Bipod. I contacted PGW already and they only carry the Light Tactical.

I would like to get ahold of the F-Class model. Any help would be appreciated.

On a side note, anyone know if this fits the forend of a McMillan A-5? I only ever see pics of it on chassis'

Thanks

that's what they carry... can they special order one in for you?

I contacted PGW and they told me that they were not interested in ordereing the F-Class model. For the sole distributor of a product, they didnt seem to be very helpful. It seems to me like that bipod would sell pretty well up here with only one source. They cant be exported from the US.

Wanstalls used to bring them in, but thier exported quit. They are trying to set up a new one, but no time frame yet. Picking up my new 338 Improved this week and it needs a bipod ASAP!!

What does the F class version offer over the tactical version? Its very wide as is and is rock solid with no movement.

It allows the rifle to sit much lower between the legs of the bipod. The center of gravity is much lower. It is a very nice piece of equipment. My buddy uses one on his 338 snipetac and 408 cheytac and it is a VERY stable platform.

Ok found a pic of the F class so yes it does appear to sit a bit lower than the tactical. Still I don't think you would find much difference stability wise between the two if you could not get your hands on the F class version.

Ya, ive been a bit torn between just buying the light tactical, but when it is that much more than the Atlas, I wanted to get as much for the money as possible. I have seen and tried the F-Class and was really impressed. Im not sure how much better the light tactical is from an Atlas.

IMO the light tactical is a tank compared to the Atlas. I have to take it off when hiking with the rifle its too wide when folded. I'd let you try it out if I was near Edmonton but I'm a bit far away.

I have an LRA on one of my rifles, buddy had an Atlas on his similar rifle while he was waiting for his LRA and it's a night and day difference, I would say even a bigger difference than comparing a Caldwell to the Atlas

update

I spoke with the owner of LRA accuracy and he has advised me that his retailers will receive stock the 2nd week in June.
According to him euro optics will receive the largest shipment. And as a plus they have an exporter and are able to send to Canada (his understanding)... When you call euro optics you are to ask for Jason.

Please note this is a secondary business as David still has his primary full time job. Please take this into consideration if he doesn't immediately return emails or phone calls.

I have one of the earlier versions which used the pin placement system and not the ball detent system of today.

Features that i like about this bipod
Wide foot print allows for more stable shooting platform.
the horse shoe attachment lowers the center of gravity and reduces the amount of torque the rifle generates. This is a big plus for large caliber rifles. The rifle does not sit on top of the bipod like the atlas or harris
The bipod is angle adjustable with different degrees of cant from vertical to almost horizontal. this is good for uneven ground or shooting positions.
there is not springiness like the harris and when you load up this bipod it is rock solid. (i have modified a couple of phoenix tactical feet and it really locks up. The rubber one supplied are larger then the harris or atlas and provide more friction depending on the surface
the LRA bipod attaches to the anschutz rail with a 4 inch picatinny rail and have a much larger contact surface allowing me to distribute the load/force i put on the rifle, which reduces the amount of flex on the forend.

I think either choice would be a great addition for all rifle systems BUT particularly larger calibers rifle systems. If PGW has the tactical version there must be a reason for their selection. They wouldn't sell sub par accessories and there may be features that stand out to them over other versions and different manufacturers.
