LRPV opinions?

I had thought I made up my mind on getting a LRPV in a .223 but decided to wait until spring to buy do to some money issues:( anyways I am kinda second guessing myself if I should go with a remington , a tika or possibly build something. I am a newbie to this stuff so I think building something would be out of the question. So what are your opinions on the LRPV compared to the competition for someone getting into the sport? Are they accurate out of the box or do they need work?

Most of my shooting will either be done off a bench/sand bags or off a bipod. Like anyone else I would like to work my way out as far as possible in distance as I get better.

I am a huge savage fan so this is the platform I would choose.

ALL factory stocks would benefit from a proper bedding. The LRPV is no exception. This savage could also use a bolt timing which will really ease bolt lift and smoothness. I can help you with either task.

I really like the accutrigger but the Tikka will go lighter. Rems are pretty stiff.

The 9 twist on the Savage will let you push 75gr Amax or Bergers as far as you want to go. The 8 twist Tikka can go with 80's. Not sure what Rem have these days.

Future barrel swaps, stocks, and triggers are easier with either Savage or Rem but you may find the Tikka just fine the way it is.

If you decide you want to change barrels, Savage is the front runner for ease and cost.

If you like/want to tinker/change parts, the Savage is THE way to go.

I have the 223 LRPV single shot left load/right eject model and really like it. I don't think you would be disapointed if you go this route, The stock is a HS stock and very comfortable, and as far as the trigger I think all the LRPV come with the target accu trigger witch is adjustable from 2.5 lbs to 6 oncs. I have mine set at 1.5 lbs and its crisp for a factory tuned trigger.
 
Love my LRPV in .204.
Already bedded from factory.
Not sure what stocks come with a 1 inch plus barrel channel but I guess with enough patience anything could be made to fit.
Also user adjustable trigger down to 6 ounces is pretty hard not to like.
 
LRPV .223 1/7 twist, stock shoots <.5 MOA very very consistently with 80gr Bergers out to 700M at the Genesee range. Very happy with it, much more accurate than my custom built rig :(

Unfortunately, the bedding is far from good.

Simple test, take the action screws out and see if you can move the action
within the stock. I bet you can move it forward/back AND in rotation.

Without the action screws, the typical alum chassis inletting doesn't support much of anything.

Action screws make lousy load bearing points.

I have the the rblp model and love it. I rebbled to 6 br at a cost of about 400$ and she is officially a tack driver

Ok whats involved in bedding the action? How difficult is it and how easy is it to screw up?
Also should a newbie stick with the 1in9 twist and shoot that barrel untill you get out there than upgrade to the 1in7 twist?
