My LT ATT is ready for pick up at my club!!!....had to laugh when I realized I had to drive to the club to pick it up, return home pick up my restricted firearm and drive back to the club to officially lose my shooting cherry! I know my firearm needs to have a trigger lock and be carried in a locked case....

My Questions:

Do I have to have the firearm AND ammunition in a separate case?

If yes, what is the best way to transport my ammo?

Thanks

AJ

Ammunition can be stored in the same locked container as a firearm. You can even have loaded magazines in the same locked container.

I've been using utility boxes, as I save my brass for reloading. It helps me keep track of my brass as well, and it's easy for the range people to swipe it with a magnet.

I don't remember seeing a locked case rule for ammo during transport so it might be ok to keep ammo in the same locked case as a trigger locked restricted but I don't know for sure.
I keep ammo in my range bag, and guns in gun cases.

Will your club not email your att? Seems silly to drive there without your restricteds after the rcmp says you can...

I use a tool box for ammo & mags. I put a lock on it even though it is not mandatory. I do this just because most cops don't know the laws and I really don't have the patience to let "the courts figure it out"...

agree with AWOL

ammunition should be stored in a separate case locked and firearms in a separate case trigger and locked. it will save you a lot of headache if just in case. there is on the CSSA site some good info on this in FAQ's. all restricted laws are open for interpretation, at the person who pulls you over and lets the court tie your toys up and lawyer fee. funny you can buy a handgun and they give it to you unlocked and no trigger lock from dealer or not even installed, and you can buy 500 plus rounds at a store and carry out in a plastic bag throw it in your car and drive off? lol and it is going to get stickier.

loaded magazines in case

hello stevebot-7
becareful with that loaded magazines with handgun in same case, that is a real no no, the only exception for that would be in a SAFE or vault, not even a stack on. and in that being classified as an actual safe/vault you are not in need of a trigger lock. but it all goes again how much money you have and how long you want to not shoot or see your babies until proven otherwise.
IMHO
