LT Raven Gen 1 Charging Handle Loose?

Hey guys, I’m wondering if any other Raven or old AR people have seen this issue. I have the Gen 1 charging handle on my Gen 2 bcg 556, and lately when it fires the handle likes to come back out of its holding grooves. It’s fine when I’m shooting since the bolt pulls it back in, but on the last round it basically comes flying out to my stock.

I thought it might be due to over lubing since I run it wet, but after cleaning that out I still seem to have the issue. Has anyone else dealt with this or has a fix? I’m thinking I need to dremel in some more grooves or make it deeper so the pins stay latched on when shooting. Thanks!

Gen one CH uses the spring detents to stay in place. Could be they have worn down the section of the aluminum receiver they clip to. This poor design is why I waited for the gen 2 CH. You could try bending the springs inward to create more tension.

It’s a known issue on the gen 1 charging handle although I haven’t personally experienced it.

The gen2 charging handle, the ####### one or the modified radian raptor dpms handles are the more permanent fix.

In the meantime you can either bend the tension spring inward or add another spring to the other side of the charging handle.

My Gen 1 charging handle wasn’t latched when I pulled the trigger and it broke when the bolt slammed ahead. Lockhart gave me a new one on warranty but I also bought the Gen 2 latching.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, i tightened the springs using clamps and it seemed to hold up during the range visit. This will hold me over until I can buy either the gen2 or a radian handle or something. Cheers!
