I was looking at remingtons LE site and at the LTR, chambered in 223/308. Got me thinking...

if Remington chambered either the LTR and/or the 700P in 260 Remington (6.5-308 / 1:8" twist), and loaded factory ammo with Sierra 142 gr. MatchKings (BC is .580), how successful do you think it would be in sales?

260 w/ 142 has 7" less wind drift @ 600 yards than 308 (w/168 HPBT), and doesnt drop below 1150 fps until 1350 yards, whereas the 308/168 drops below that speed at 1075 yards.

I personally love the 260 Rem cartridge. I had a custom built, based on a blueprinted 700, and a 23" Gaillard stainless fluted barrel. Bell & Carlson light varmint stock.

Basically like an LTR

260 in 8 twist barrel

I would say you are in the minority ( that is target shooeters ) if there was a big demand for this I'm sure Remington would be there. If you want a rifle that will put them all in one hole , you have to pay the price. The heart of your rig will be the barrel ( CUSTOM ) is required. Cal= 6.5 Brass=284. Enjoy the sport. Bill.

Since most Silhouette shooters are building rifles in 260 on rem.700's, usually with 24-26" barrels w/fast twist it might have some following.

having just gotten into longrange shooting last summer I did a quick survey of caliber. The .260rem has the largest F class following locally, followed by .308 . The winner however was a 7mm mag.
