Hi, I didn't know where to put this question but I thought I would ask here as I think the Black Rifle guys would have a freak out if I put a boltgun question in their forum :) Anyway, this video popped up on youtube for me and as I watched it I wondered if anyone here has tried putting an aimpoint or red dot on a precision rifle? It isn't groundbreaking stuff but it looks like you could really have an interesting set up and a quick shooter... I see guys are shooting with Diopter sights to fair distances would this work just as well?

be really cool with a super flat shooting round and a small dot (not 4moa like lots are)

use a round flat enough to zero for 100 and maybe get minimal need to hold over from 0-250 or something like that

I threw my elcan spectre dr on my savage 10bat-s/k for fun, worked ok out to 300 or so. It's a 5.56 model, but I'll bet the 7.62 model would do the job out to 800 pretty well.

The funny thing is I have an aimpoint CompM3 2MOA like in the vid and the LTR but it never once occurred to me to throw it on top. It just always seemed to be an "AR" sight... I could just pop my Mk4 M3 off and throw it on - I am just not a huge fan of going out and zeroing it and having to re-zero for my XCR...

I heard that 1-8 is going to run for like 3k. If you are referring to one K. Boland is running on his AR. That is a pretty pricey piece of kit. Maybe I am weird but I don't have a problem dropping 3k on S&B but for some reason I balk at paying that much for Leupy...

I have a 2MOA Comp M2 that I occasionally throw on the M700 for hunting in dense areas. Very quick to aim and still easy to nail a 300 yard gong with.
