Just picked up a RCBS lube-a-matic from a fellow cgn.
I need sizing die and top punch...... I understand both Lyman and RCBS resizing dies with fit the RCBS.

I am looking for a .459 resizing die ( Lyman is the only one I see makes this size and a top punch ...but which top punch??? I will be resizing the Lee .459-405 hollow base bullet ( maybe the Lee .457-340 PB). From what I can see the top punch varies with the mould.

Someone must be using a lube-a-matic with these moulds out there. Which is the best top punch to get?

Also looking at where to buy in Canada.
PS: I did see ww w.buffaloarms. com can sell custom .460 dia sizing dies that fit but do I really need this ++ the problems getting this from the USA.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Top punch

I usually make my own. I turn them out on the lathe and drill a hole in the nose and use a dab of epoxy in the nose and let it set with a waxed bullet in it, in the machine to provide the proper alignment. This gives a perfect fit to your bullet that doesn't mar the nose.
You can use this method with factory top punches also.

Lyman

I would measure the diameter of the bullet's meplat and ask Lyman and RCBS about the right nose punch for it.
You can mention your type of bullet and mold, too, even if it's Lee's.
Or I would go on this site, register and ask anything I want to know: they are very knowledgeable.
Good luck!

Sorry, neither lyman or rcbs will make a top punch for a Lee bullet, no -one will as it is a machining chore to get it right....most mould makers use the same tooling to make the top punch as the mould. Your best bet is to fashion a flat top punch for flat points that you can't get top punches for or order one from Lyman or RCBS that has a larger(wider) meplat and you can use 5 min epoxy to get an exact fit!! I can give further details if you like!
