It is obvious by visiting the many dozens of reloading forums on the net, that everyone has a favorite bullet and/or case lube recipe.

The most common home recipe for case lube is 99% rubbing alcohol, and 1% lanolin. The problem with this is that pure lanolin is very hard to find. Someone on the Dillon forum swears by 99% rubbing alcohol, and 1% olive oil.

Might seem strange at first glance, but then again, lanolin comes from sheep sweat ! While we're at it why not glycerin ? Comments anyone?

There are so many premixed, proven, reliable, and cheap lubes out there why bother messing with a home brew? I use RCBS lube and a pad. A little bit rubbed into the pad lasts a very long time.

For case sizing i use Imperial as one uses so little of it, for lubing bullets I make my own, for smokeless I use beeswax, carnauba, among other things. For BP lube i use beeswax and lanolin among other things.

I generally use RCBS lube and the pad, but how exactly do you use the Imperial wax?

Do you just rub it on your fingers and then fondle the cases?

Felix Bullet Lube formula

2 Tablespoons mineral oil
1 Tablespoon castor oil
1 Tablespoon Ivory, or homemade soap (grated)
1 Tablespoon Lanolin
Beeswax - Piece approximately 3 1/2" X 3 1/2" X 1 "

Heat mineral (baby) oil until it starts to smoke.

Add castor oil, and stir continuously for 1/2 hour.

Sliver the soap, and stir into the mixture a little at a time, until melted.

Add the beeswax before the lanolin, and then when that is melted, reduce or remove the heat and add the lanolin, thus not running any risk of burning or scorching the lanolin.

1 teaspoon of carnauba wax can be added to give a shiny bore. This can be found on the seal of Makers Mark whiskey, or the red wax on cheese from the supermarket.

Once made, let cool. This can be re-melted in a microwave, and poured into the lubrisizer.
