Lubing the Norc M14

Unfortunatly I did not recieve a manual to tell me exactly where to lube... But I did read this from a sticky..

Lubricating the M14 Type Rifles.

The only two thing you want to lube with gun oil are the trigger assembly pivot points, and the firing pin.All other lubing should be done with a good quality grease.

You want to grease the following areas:
-Bolt roller
-bolt lugs
-The bolt tracks inside the reciever
-the underside of the bolt
-the nose of the hammer
-Operating Rod track
-Inside the Op Rod "hump"(where the bolt roller fits.HINT a small syringe filled with grease works great for lubing this area).
-Recoil spring guide rod
-Where the Op Rod slides through the op rod guide

Now I know where the trigger pivot points and the firing pin channel is, but unfortunatly I'm not 100% sure what the bolt roller, lugs, op rod track or the 'hump' is.

Is there a online manual with grease points that I could refer to?

Oh, one other question, is the oil/grease that came in the Norc's buttstock okay to use until I can get to Canadian Tire to get some Wheel Bearing Grease? And what's the best stuff I can get at 'ole Canadian Tire for grease?

I've never worried about lubing the firing pin channel in all my years of competing and hunting with the M14, but I'm sure it won't hurt, especially for our beloved range queen M14's. :rolleyes:

Manual ? We don't need no stinkin' manual.... no seriously, I AM the Manual! :evil:


There, I've always wanted to say that. Okay, on a more serious note, grab a copy of our (Skullboy, too) Abbotsford M14 Clinic before yer #### falls off !!

bolt roller - little round wheel on the right side of your bolt.

lugs - two protrusions on the front of your bolt, one has the bolt roller mounted to it.

op rod track - little groove on the right side of the reciever on the outside that your operating rod slides back and forth on.

hump - the cut out on your operating rod that the bolt roller sets into.
