Lubrication for an air rifle..

I'm new to air rifles. I have a Slavia 630 that I'm fixing up. My question is what should I use for lubrication? (silicone grease?). I know that it's not quite the same as a firearm because some lubricants may weaken or swell the plastic and rubber parts. Any help would be appreciated.

This topic has been banged around a lot..I think the consensus is that you should use a grease that is designed for this like, RWS chamber lube or other similar products..Silicon chamber greases are usually meant for high powered precision rifles, that have a problem with Dieseling[pressure igniting the chamber oils]The factory[cz] uses just a little 20w non-detergent oil, so you don't have to get too Hi-tech if you don't want to.A drop or two every 500 or so shots into the chamber hole is all the gun requires after reassembly.I use cheap 30 w non detergent motor oil for all my lower powered air guns, including my Co2 guns.Never had a problem using it.Just never use detergent based oils as they destroy Seals.
 
If you're really fixing it up, i'm guessing you're taking it apart. Lube the spring with a LIGHT coating of moly grease, and lube the piston seal with silicone oil. You don't need to spend tons of money on special airgun lubes when you can buy the same thing for 2.99 a can at CT.
 
I used some KG moly grease today before I put it back together. I had figured something silicone would be the ticket as it's plastic and rubber safe. I was thinking some normal parts store silicone grease or lube, as opposed to a expensive pellet gun lube. I'll pick something up to use when I replace the seals.

DO NOT USE PETROLEUM BASED OIL PRODUCTS ON THE PISTON!! I have a Slavia 630 as well and the petroleum based oils dry out the leather gasket. I found out the hard way. Use Neets Foot Oil for the leather piston gasket. Just a couple of drops poured into the chamber is all you need. Get Neets Foot Oil at a leather goods store or a shoe maker.

PS: Love my 630; 40+ years old and still going strong!

Not a spot of leather in my rifle. Piston gasket is plastic/synthetic. I've ordered some silicone lube for it. The specific pellet gun oil costs the same as anything I can find in my small town.
