Just received my first ever red dot scope and was wondering if the dot or reticle is supposed to be fuzzy? I haven't taken mine out to a range yet, however, my first impressions on this when I pulled it out and turned it on are that I might have a broken unit?

When I put on the 2X zoom attachment, the image did get a little better! Do I need to focus past the reticle for this to work?

Pardon my ignorance, I do not have experience with RDS'.

Thanks!

Try turning down the intensity? That fuzzy dot might not look so fuzzy in bright daylight.

Generally, the more expensive optics have a crisper dot.

I did try and play with the intensity but the fuziness was still there. Will give it a shot in daylight. Thanks!

Could be your eyes. Some people report that eotech products look like a series of fuzzy dots to them. Have a friend try it.

I thought so too but I could have sworn, when I first tried the same model at a reseller in Calgary, it didn't seem to be that fuzzy. That is why I ordered it online (at a better price).

I have one too and is super fuzzy , BUT when I use my reading glasses it's sharp and clear. Chances are it's your eyes like me. Friends have looked thru it and it was clear for them so I know my unit is good

Yes, we had many calls like this on the mepro sight. One glasses were used, it cleared right up. It seems to affect those who are near sighted the most

When viewed indoors in a dimmer environment the dot will always appear fuzzy.

Bright lighting, or better yet outdoor light will make it look very different.

I have owned every red dot type optic from aimpoint to bushnell and they all do the same thing to varying degrees.

Go outside with it!

It will be just fine. ;)

Mlehtovaara has it right. I had the same issue with my HD7 and even went to get my eyes tested thinking it was my vision causing the problems. Indoors the dot looks fuzzy but when you get to the range it will be fine.

Thanks a bunch for the responses! I will take it out to the range and actually print some paper rather than stare at my bar fridge through it! :)

without magnification its fuzzy for me...with 2x perfectly clear.

didn't wear safety glasses once when I was 15 grinding a bolt, the other time @ 21, carb cleaner down a dead port.Same bloody eye, my strong eye.

I purchased an eotech XPS2 and I sold it due to my eyes

The SPARC seem to be the best for me with the 2x on my SR22 I also ordered a 1-4X24 Vortex for my AR...

Cheers

Does changing the reticle change the zero like on my Bushnell Trophy? As you move the selector, it can stop at differant points and give a differant zero. I don't like it at all.

Is this one like that or does it have a more positive lock on the reticle selector?

People who use them claim it holds zero when changed, but being on a rotating dial, I don't see how that's completely possible, longterm.

I prefer a button to change reticle.

Then I wont be buying one of those. Thanks

Hey, I'm just some guy with an opinion, it doesn't mean it's right! I've just found no optic with rotating reticle settings that inspired confidence in the design holding up over time. Most get looser with use, eventually allowing enough wiggle to move point of impact by moving dial slightly. I have a russian optic, similar to the Kobra, that changes from . to T to + to + with a . by pressing a button, but it is all one image, changed with one button, with absolutely no movement of any components between changes. I trust it's design, but only time will tell.

I can assure you it is not an eye sight thing on all of them. My sight was perfect for two months, and then all of a sudden it went really blury. To the point where I can see 2-3 halo's of the reticle (inside or out). I will be exchanging mine for a new one
