Went to Levers and found a 1954 IZH all numbers match down to the bolt and stock. No ### outs but has the refurb mark on the stock only. Brand new I'd say. I'll get some pics up soon Cheers

Thanks on the score. I'd say Levers has about 70 on display but as curtton said they will only let you look at a few. I eyeballed the factory logo through the glass. There is still another Izh that I saw but I was over my "handling" limit and didn't get to see it up close and personal

it cant be brand new if the stock has been refurb, should be the red blotchy type. the whole rifle has been refurb , nice tho .

Not neccessarily true. I have one just like emmab's but in a laminate stock. If it was in the original stock it would be an unissued, but it is not. The only thing done to it during refurb was a stock and a stamp. Also look at Val's 53 Izzy,it's unissued but it's not red like Her other one. KWHunter's unissued 54 Izzy is not red either.

it is possible that a newly issued rifle somehow got its original stock damaged enuff that requires replacement.

Your '54 SKS ISH looks great. Did you get a crate of their cheap ammo too? How does it shoot? Shot my friend's Norinco and was able to get 3" group from 100 yrds with open sights. Will be interesting to see how my refurb SKS's Tula's ('53 & '56 also from your dealer) will perform when I bring them to the range in the next couple of weeks.

I don't know if it was a fluke but this is the oil can that came with the Izzy SKS. It's different than the other cans I have that came with the Tulas and must be the logo for Izzy. Anybody else get this type of oiler? I don't think I'll shoot this one as I think it is unfired. A refurb but unfired with all new(unused) parts. No rings or evidence of use on the bolt face or carrier, piston and extension or trigger group or gas tube and barrel so I'll keep it like that for awhile. It has a black bayo which is different and interesting looking. I've got lots of shooter grade SKSs anyway so I don't have need to dirty this one. Cheers
