luger history

Does anyone know if it is possible to trace the history of a luger. The one I have was handed to the Canadians at a surrender table in Amsterdam by a German 2nd in command. Second in command of what I don't know. I know the germans kept pretty detailed records so I was wondering if anyone here knows anything about getting info on this stuff. Thanks.

If you could find out any information about this particular surrender, it might be possible to get a list of who was present. It is possible that there is a record of the Canadian and German units involved. If you can get a list of units, there should be a record of personnel. Any way you could trace it to the Vet who brought it back? His unit could give a starting point.
