Luger ID...help please

Hello CGN,

I have a friend with a Luger in his family's posession.
They were going to turn it in to the RCMP for destruction, but I convinced them to hang on for a bit and I'd try to figure out a fair price for them so they can sell it to someone rather than melt it.
They can't get pics for some reason, but they did give me a serial number.

9-267-A
Model P08 with 4" barrel.

Can anyone shed some light on this pistol?

Was it ever registered? If all the numbers are matching and it was registered you could sell it for 400-600$ as it is prohibited. If you get it re-barrelled (300$ to 600$) depending on shape and manufacture you could sell for $1000 - 1500. The re-barreling is a 3 to 6 month process and up until it is re-registered as a restricted can only be transferred to a prohibited licence holder. I have gone through this process a few times now so if you have any questions let me know.

Maker? Date? A Luger serial number isn't really useful. All makers used 4 digits and a letter.
Lugers I seen sell at auction go $600 - $1200, perhaps higher, depending.

You have to get all the info and pictures . Condition is everything.
Some rear ones are still worth real money $1500.+
With out pictures it's $200. Prohib.

Makers mark and date should be on the top of the bolt, something like DWM 1918 etc...
It definitely has value, even if it is just for the parts, turn the frame in for destruction if they don't want the effort of registering it and selling it.
the wood grips could be worth 100, trigger 50 or so? does it have magazines? some of them will go for stupid prices like 300 or so. others around 100. pics would really help.

The maker marking on the toggle is a potential game changer, all matching parts, matching magazines and condition. Might be worth quite a bit in the land of the free.
