Had to log into photobucket anyhow so I thought I'd throw a picture of the Old (Mauser built) Luger up here as well.

Had it out to a Gun 'n run course. It worked flawlessly til the Mini-match prior to the main show, then the mis-feeds started. Put it away and took the Steyr-hahn. Another story though...

Don't actually know, it came this way. Bbl wise anyhow; I acquired the stock and holster afterwards.
They are a fine shooting pistol, just for how long is the problem...

Lugers are very ammo sensitive, once you find the right load it will work fine for you. That longer heavier barrel would tend to slow down the rearward movement of the upper receiver, Perhaps try a lighter recoil spring to make up for the extra mass.

I found Lugers to be a little sensitive and not like Campro hollowpoints hah. Roundnose 124gr campros at 1.125" seemed to feed okay with 4gr of titegroup. Action cycled correctly, no issues there.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I'm on that Luger Forums and have posed the obvious question; what do they require? To which the answer has been ( more or less); 'They are like women, there is no answer'
I have tried 1.125 through 1.160 with velocities from 900 - 1200 fps; all FMJ 115 & 124 weights. I've both style of magazine; coil and zig-zag (term?).
There is no magic bullet that I've found; it'll work for a period, then...FTF. Which is par for the course; if I read correctly it's the steep angle that is the start of the feeding problems.
Aggravated of course by the fact that my other period piece has a next-to vertical magazine; so it'll eat anything, with aplomb.
I've said it before..."Lugers are like a stripper GF. Everyone ooh and ahhs over her lines, wants to handle her and blow all kinds of Sunshine up your *ss about how cool she is...then she squats and pees right in front of God & everybody! Nice..."

But they are cool pieces. This one is a mismatch, but is so well fitted that it's got to be a factory job. The toggle is a mismatch.
It's a 1941 made Mauser, but not the 'BYF' version.

I have found that OAL of the cartridge is critical. They tend to jam up if to short. I assemble my ammunition to the same OAL as some WW1 and WW2 9mm examples I have.

My WW1 ammo is 1.168 OAL and all the reloads I've made to the same length work perfectly

OMG!!

Never have truer words been spoken!! ;)

Though, I have shot one original all matching mint condition vet bringback byf42 (Mauser Oberndorf) P.08 that NEVER malfunctioned, ever... My 1938 rebarreled Mauser Oberndorf P.08 though, stovepipes every once and a while, but is generally pretty decent.
