LUV Hammer Guns

I like antiques, so by default they have hammers. Always wanted a Winchester 97, never did get one.

I also like antique guns so have a few, I also like odd guns, the first gun in this picture is a Remington Keene rifle which is a bolt action with a hammer and not to common, then there is a double hammer cape gun and a Westley Richards percussion

Something about thumbing back a hammer or two. That's why I like 1885's over Ruger #1s and I have a Stevens 044-1/2 and a FAIR 20 ga SXS hammergun. Taking a Krieghoff SXS off decock isn't quite as nice, but, that has its moment, too.

Cape guns are pretty cool.
Care to share some details? Have you gotten to try it out?

The cape gun is a 12 bore, the shotgun is 2 1/2 chamber and the rifle side is 1 3/4 and was made by Theophilus Mucutt London and is cased, I haven't spent any time with this gun but hopefully soon
Also a flint cape gun, 18 bore shot gun and 28 bore rifle, I haven't got to working with this gun
and tp cpmp;ete the cape gun a percussion gun marked Keene, 25 bore shotgun and 31 bore rifle. I have shot this gun. The odd thing with this one is the top rib is marked off in inches, my understanding of this was to measure horns.

And of course all hammer guns

12-bore best-quality early central-fire gun by Charles William Lancaster of London, made in 1864 for Sir Thales Pease KCB, still taking birds.

16-bore single-barrelled hammer gun, made by Thomas Seymour of London (1841-1844), converted to central-fire from percussion, still taking birds.

12-bore pin-fire sporting gun by Boss & Co. of London, made in 1863 for Charles-Cecil Martyn. This one also took grouse for me, back when I was making my own pin-fire cartridges. Hammerguns Rule!
