Has anyone had any experience with the LWRC REPR .308 platform??? If so please post your opinion as I am interested in learning more about this platform as the information I have found seems quite positive pertaining to this line of rifles.

Rumor mill is they were trialed along with a bunch of other 308 gas guns including HK 417, sig 716 and a few others. Pretty sure the sig was the top pick. I had actually been following the repr for a couple years now. It's top tier in the ar10 department from my research. If I were rolling in cash I'd look for one. Just speculation though.

I don't know, judging from photos they seem to both have the bolt operations on the left side of the upper, that would make me wonder, if both are basically the same then why is one restricted and the other one non-restricted??? It seems the other main difference is the LWRC is piston operated and the Modern Hunter is direct impingement operated.

From the little research I've done about them, seems like they would be a very nice dependable and fairly accurate 308 semi. But for similar price(probably less with the dollar) the ATRS Modern Hunter would give the same or probably better results and it's the only AR-10 type platform that is non-restricted in Canada. I can't imagine anyone would want to go through the hassle of acquiring a rifle like a REPR from the US only to be able to use it in a range. Plus with the Modern Hunter you have the ability to support a Canadian made firearm, something that we need to do in order for more Canadian made firearms to come to light in the future. Another bonus is ATRS will build it any way you want.

Good call. All I really saw was the side charging handle.....

The LWRC is an AR-10 variant therefore it is restricted and will be until the laws change. The Modern Hunter is a completely new firearm that happens to look like and operate in a similar way to an AR but is in no way an AR and never will be. The upper and lower receivers of the Modern Hunter were manufactured in such a way that that they cannot interchange with an AR type rifle in any way. These things are what makes the Modern Hunter non-restricted. It can be outfitted with the same AR furniture; hand guards, grips, butt stocks, etc. but since it is a completely new rifle design and not an "AR variant" as per our laws it is non-restricted.
