lwrc rifle non restricted

are lwrc rifles restricted, specifically the R.E.P.R with a 20 inch barrel, because i know ar-15's and semi autos with a barrel less than 18.5 inches are, and apparently because it uses a piston system its not an ar-15. if it is restricted i will go for an fn-ar.

How it operates doesn't matter when comes to classification at the CFC, it is all about the looks, so if it looks like an AR than it will be classified as such.

LWRC is Restricted just like ALL the rest of them. Barrel length has nothing to do with an AR's classification.

The REPR isn't really an AR IMHO. It has a side charging handle and runs on a short stroke piston system. But because it looks mostly like an AR the RCMP will classify it as such.

Assuming the Crown's appeal (Henderson) is successful, if not they may have to show reasons for their decisions, and we may be treated to some lovely stuff in the new year.
