Just received my copy, today. For those who already own Lyman's latest edition, this handbook has likely already earned a prime spot on the reloading bench. Packed with plenty of updated load data, for an expanded series of new cartridges. Plus, many old favourites. Quite frankly, out of all the reloading books I currently own... including previous Lyman editions, this one is impressive, to say the least.

For those new to the reloading art, the Lyman book also contains a wealth of information on every aspect of reloading. Answers just about any question beginning reloaders might have. Step-by-step, highly detailed instruction on every part of the loading process, from start to finish. Plus, offers up plenty of tips that even seasoned reloaders will enjoy. If you're like me, no matter how many decades you've been reloading....there's always room for new knowledge. A wealth of information, right at your fingertips.

Available through several sources. Bought mine at Cabela's. Dirt cheap, too....for the value of the information Well worth the investment, in my view.

I agree! I try to have a couple manuals in the shelf but tend to shift towards the Lyman as it has some cartridges that aren’t in the others. I figured long ago that having a manual from the company who’s powder or bullets you are using is a good idea and then cross reference with other manuals or load data. I also like western powders PDF and wish other powders companies would do the same instead of a website.

I don’t have the Lyman 51st but I do have the 50th.

bdb.hunting: I expect I'm the same as many experienced reloaders, like yourself. With a broad selection of reloading handbooks and other source material at hand. All of which make good cross-referencing material in selecting loads that, deliver best performance in our firearms.

Then, there's the wealth of online data now available...from: Hodgdon, Alliant, Vihtavuori, and so on. This is a good time to be a reloader.

I'd been hearing good things about Lyman's latest reloading handbook....#51. So, even though I didn't really need another reloading book on the shelf....I never pass up an opportunity to add to the library. In this case, it turned out to be a good move.

Lots of solid data, throughout. Well laid out and in an easy to understand format. Will make a fine addition to the library.

When I got back to reloading, I pcked up a copy of Lyman's 49th. I used it enough to have the binding split in a few places.
When the 50th came out, I got a copy in hardcover, direct from Lyman. So far, no binding split, and I've used the 50th at least as much as the 49th.

I may or may not get the 51st.

I only have the 49th but I've found it more conservative than other manuals. At least with the cartridges I load for. I do still use it and the Lyman cast bullet manual as well as Lee and some old Sierra manuals and online data
I'll have to pick up a copy of the 51st

Is that available from Lyman? - dan
Couple days ago I ran into a Lyman 2022 edition pdf somewhere from some UK website ... I have no idea what # is it 49 or 50 or it doesn't say.
After some quick look at it I feel like searching web may be faster with more returns.

But again, I am only interested into reloading a single calibre so what I need is more simple.

Lyman covers basics and exposes folks to some of the stuff other companies don't really mention, like cast bullets, won't see those from Hornady or Nosler, also talk about reduced loads, Accurate powders show some reduced loads, IMR has some too, and, every edition of Lyman has some different stuff in it, old stuff not in new books, some types of bullets or powders tested or not tested.

Ok thx. I'll search and see what I can find. - dan

Is the .223 REM data bolt action data or semi auto/ar15?
I have the 48th edition and the 223 data is taken with Colt ar15.
I like it when the manuals include 223 data for both bolt and semis.
